Pretty Lucky

Waking up timeline...
For the first couple weeks we both got up every time Anthony cried or woke up so we could feed him and laura could pump. That was pretty easy since it was new to both of use.
Of course you get pretty tired only sleeping a few hours each night. Then Laura let me miss a couple feeding/changings during the night since I still had to work.

At 1 month we moved him into his own room which wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. This helped Laura get more sleep. We had a baby monitor and breathing plate so we could hear everything and didn't have to worry as much about sids since the breathing plate would alert us if he stopped breathing.
At that time, we decided to both get up when he cried. I would start the microwave to warm the water then start to change him. Then she would come in and finish while I would put the bag of milk in the warm water then I would set her pumping stuff up along with a big glass of water. I would feed him while she pumped. He would finish eating before Laura pumped. So I would put him back to bed then help laura clean up all the pumping stuff. (I have decided pumping is a lot of work for both of us)

At about 2.5 months, Anthony was sleeping most of the night and Laura was stretching out her pumping. So when we got up once a night, we would change him then she would breast feed him. Finally after a couple nights she said,"why dont you just go back to bed and not worry about getting up. No sense both of us being awake" Jackpot for me :)

Now he wakes up between 4 and 5:15. We hope for 5 because then Laura will feed him and I get up just after that to get ready for work. Then I make her lunch and pack the truck. Then she eats breakfast and pumps since she can't for another 4 or 5 hours. So then I entertain Anthony and clean her pumping stuff for about 30 minutes until she is ready to leave for work. It is amazing how much babies smile, laugh and play at 5 in the morning.

So far teamwork and family has made everything pretty easy.

  2. Yeah, we are pretty lucky. Hopefully the easy going now doesn't turn terrible when he is two
