Home for a week

Ethan has been home for a week now. Overnight sleeping has been pretty good. Usually sleeping 2 1/2 to 3 hours at a time. I say usually because each night can be different. Last night the first half of the night Ethan was more awake. The end of the night he got back to sleeping for 3 hours. He gets a little bloated after eating so he wakes up. Hopefully that will pass soon. Anthony is enjoying his "Baby Brother". He talks about him all the time. Always wants to go check on Baby Brother.

Ethan On The News

Less than 4 1/2 hours old and Ethan is already on the news. He is gonna be a star.

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Sunday and time for Laura to go home. Luckily they are not strict on when you need to leave. She will stay until at least 845 p to feed him then go home. If it was just her she could have left mid day . She will come back early in the morning to feed him and hang out all day. Loitering???? At least they have a pumping room set up. The good news is that if he stays in schedule, he could go home Monday . That is best case though.

Snack time in a gazebo . After the Shell factory we headed to Punta Gorda to watch some electric car races. Then to the Rices for dinner so I could visit Laura and Ethan. Shane came to visit right as we finished feeding time .

Dinosaurs at the Shell Factory

Saturday mid morning we went to the Shell Factory. Another first. He had a great time . Plenty to see and lots of room to run around. The place is a little/lot run down but he chad fun.

Saturday morning playtime , Legos are the best. Currently his favorite toy

Saturday and everything is on track. Still no word on when he is released. But Laura will be released Sunday.

Friday, after school, Anthony and I went to mike greenwells . Great time . This was his first trip there. Lots of games and the go carts . Even though we were loaded last, he doesn't like to wait. Go go go he says. After that it was chic fil a for some grilled nuggets. For a Friday the place was dead, so that was nice. Gonna be strange trying to even out our time to both kids. Definitely don't want Anthony to feel like second place to Ethan.

Friday the tube went from his mouth to his nose. It the mouth was to help with gas. In the nose is for feeding and checking to make sure he is digesting. Everything seems to be going well. Laura is fine. Just a little sore. In a perfect world, she gets to nap for one hour, wake up, pump, then go to see Ethan then feed him. Then it all starts over again. She hasn't been sleeping much.

Welcome Baby.... Ethan James Rice

What happened?

Wednesday 3/6/13 Laura started Bleeding in the middle of the night.
Went to hospital. Plecenta Previa was the ailment.
She spent almost 6 days in the hospital.
She went home Tuesday the 12th.
The plan was to be on bed rest until 3/22/13 and they would do a C Section at 37 weeks.
Her body decided different. Wednesday the 13th, close to midnight she started bleeding again.
Back to the hospital. She had a C Section and Ethan James Rice was Born at 241a on 3/14/13.
Everyone is doing fine. He was 36 weeks so they put him in the NICU. His oxygen is fine but he needs a little pressure to help with breathing.

On Deck and ready for prep. The girl on the left was a friend of Laura's in middle school.

About 2 minutes old

I was with Ethan the entire time. Of corse it wasn't much fun watching him get stuck multiple times while they tried to get a vein. At one point there were 6 people caring after him.

After a few minutes in recovery, they wheeled Laura in on the stretcher to NICU so she could see him.

Grabbing ahold of my finger.

We had a few visitors today. Grandma and Grandpa Dennis, Aunt Pam and Great Grandma (pictured) and Grandma and Grandpa Rice.

Later in the evening Laura got to hold him again. She was obviously happy.

Day one was a long day and we are both tired. Adrenalin is starting to wear off.

Placenta Previa

Wednesday 3/6/13 Laura Started bleeding in the middle of the night. Off to the hospital we go. Kinda scary. Of course the trip there the baby never moved . Once they hooked up the baby heart monitor to Laura, there was a sigh of relief. A strong heart beat. Laura spent a good 5 days in the hospital while they monitored her. Finally time to go home but she is on bed rest until Friday the 22nd. That is the scheduled C section day.
Anthony had a great time helping to push the wheel chair.

Time to ride the elevator. That was fun too.

The Fair 2013

We had a really good time at the Fair. Laura's Dance Team was performing. She only Danced a couple songs since the baby was on a nerve and it was hard for her to even walk for the last few weeks. Of course later that night he moved. Laura was very happy and almost pain free.
Anthony and I went on a lot of rides. I think they need to make the kids rides bigger though. I barely fit.
He isn't real patient when it comes to waiting in line though. Doesn't understand he can't walk up and get right on.

While watching the performance, we really wanted to get on stage. So after it was over I let him get on it.

Had to drop Laura off at the back gate since performers got in free. One of the workers felt bad for her, so he gave her a ride to the front of the property to meet me.

Before we got to the Fair, we saw a bank was having a little event. Bounce house and cheap BBQ. So we stopped.

He was rocking the swing cause he was tired of waiting. It went pretty high. He loved it. No fear of any ride

Of course he fell asleep on the way home.

New Car

For 5 weeks we have been looking for a new/used car for me. Hours and hours of searching online finally came to an end.
We were going to travel as far as Delay Beach to look at one but the night before, Honda of Fort Myers posted what we wanted on their web site.

We had to check out Fuccillo;'s used cars. Wasn't a HUGE fan of them. But Anthony had a good time

We found it at Honda of Fort Myers. Anthony was great through the entire 3 hours adventure.

The ride home.... and the New Ride
